As advised by Maharshi Naradha, he came to this place, Worshipped Perumal and got his curse removed. He bathed in the Theertha in the southeast of this temple and performed penance. Hence this spring is named Chandra Pushkarini. Later Devas appealed to Perumal that He should make this place His abode. Responding to their prayers, Perumal called the divine sculptor Viswakarma and ordered him to make an idol. Viswakarma made a Big Idol in a reclining form and installed here.
